Local Activities
In general, CFUW clubs:

Provide
opportunities for fellowship

Research and
present resolutions

Hold meetings
on educational, cultural and social issues

Promote
qualified women as candidates for elected or appointed positions

and scholarships

Have special
interest and study groups
In Cranbrook:
- We support local causes
- We have a book club which meets usually monthly
- Provide a venue and nominate a "Woman of the Year"
- Our group has given financial support to many local organizations and
events, including the public library, the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel,
the Symphony of the
Kootenays, MS Infinity Science and Math conferences, the Science Fair,
Visual Arts, and the Eating Disorders Clinic
Cranbrook & District University Women’s Club Scholarships
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: Female student
who graduated from secondary school in the College Region and who has
completed at least one academic year at College of the Rockies.
Selection: Award presented to a female continuing with her education
full-time at the College of the Rockies based on academic achievement.
Cranbrook & District University Women’s Club Bursary
Amount: Up to $500
(Funds will be applied towards tuition and/or book payment purposes in the
form of a voucher).
Eligibility: This
award will be presented to a
returning female student, who is
enrolled in full-time studies at the College of the Rockies .
Selection: Based on
the combination of demonstrated financial need and academic achievement.

Jan - Menopause by Linda S. (short program to allow time for Woman of the
Year)

Feb -City of Cranbrook water planning

March - Woman of the Year, and then only a business meeting

April - Fun night of cue and line dancing with public invited, by Karen
